The fountain is the major attraction of Fountain Hills. It first operated 12/15/1970. It goes off every hour on the hour for 15 minutes, from 9am to 9pm, 365 days per year. At night, the fountain is lit. On St Patrick's Day, it is is green. At 560 feet, it is no longer the tallest fountain in the world; as of 2/15/2009:

1) King Fahd's Fountain in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (1,023.62 feet)
2) THE GATEWAY GEYSER in St Louis (630 feet)
3) The Port Fountain in Oyster Rocks, Pakistan (620 feet)
